Biography
¥ao aka ¥aosers™
¥ao (aka ¥aosers) took to the helms of deejaying nearly a decade ago. While his foundation is in hip hop, it certainly must be stated that his tentacles reach far and beyond that distinction playing an amalgamation of styles ranging from electro, dub/dubstep, future and experimental beat to 2 step & funky to soul from around the world. He finds a logical and common thread in what he deems simply "good music".
Coming up alongside DJ Enso in the SF Bay Area in the early 00's. It was around this time that the two began to dabble in production with label co founder Roche, establishing Solos Records (www.solosrecords.com) which has served as an outlet for all of their music since 2004.
In 2006, ¥ao released his debut work Plantain is Public on Solos to rave reviews locally and globally. Rooted in hip hop and electronic music, the project experimented and contorted its beats and rhythms into a truly honest stew of sound drawing from spices around the globe. After its release, Yao relocated to Buenos Aires, Argentina and befriended El G of ZZK Records. Here he became a member of the original Zizek crew, contributing a mix of stateside underground hip hop, dancehall and soul that the Argentineans had been mixing along with their traditional cumbia to create their new distinct South American style.
His original production, edits and unique remixes of the likes of Animal Collective, labelmate Bookworms, New York based band Lemonade, and even Lil Wayne have gained him praise from all over the map.
Also, having shared the stage and billings with the likes of Diplo, Ghislain Poirier, Plastiscian, Villa Diamante, he is always ready to rock the party. This young man who has traversed the world in search of the perfect beat is eager to spread the musical energy that emanates through his daily existence.
